A 12-year-old sportsperson and carbon neutral ambassador from Espoo Finland. Started karting at the age of 4.
Regardless of the young age, Sankka is already since the first years in karting travelled and competed abroad.
Apart from Finlad, Estonia, Sweden, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Italy are countries where Sankka has driven.
When it comes to the sport and developing in it, there is so much more to it than only the driving. A balance of family, school, friends while practising physics, mental coaching and numerous hours on the track and off track at the gym, in airports, hotels and sponsor events are part of a young drivers life. Having said that, racing is a excellent life school and requires the develop a wide range of life skills to be able to develop as an athlete as well.
Sankka´s spark and love for motorsport was lit on Finland´s oldest kart track, the Bemböle ring where evidently at least 3 Finnish Formula 1 drivers have started their career. At the age of 5 he then got his first own kart.
The season 2022 highlight apart from that it was Sankka´s rookie season in the Okj class, drivers aged 12-14 was among other successes qualifying second fastest among the world´s 120 fastest drivers in the CIK-FIA Karting World Championships in Sarno, Italy. The value of this was remarkable, as he managed to do this after having recovered from a injury acquired earlier in the season and this was the rookies comeback race after a four month brake.
The season 2023 Sankka will continue in the Okj category as a factory team driver for the Italian Energy Corse team. The season is already off to a good and strong start in Valencia, Spain and will continue with at least 20 races in Europe over the season, and a season Grand finale in Las Vegas, USA. The races comprise among others the European Championships series in Spain, Italy, Czech Republic and Denmark and the CIK-FIA Karting World Championships in Franciacorta, Italy. The season goal is to besides the already existing top of the world, raw speed, learn consistency and develop further as an athlete and driver, while maintaining a good sport-school-life balance.
Karting, or go karting is a motorsport which is practised and driven both on hobby level and professional level. The kart is a compact vehicle, it is a one seated, tube chassis, does not have springs and it has a rigid back axel. Out of 23 current F1 drivers, 15 have been driving karting in the same teams and surrounding where Sankka now is driving. Karting is as well one of the few sports where everyone regardless of gender are competing.
Please enjoy Sankka´s pages, follow @sankkart on instagram, check the facebook and enjoy the journey! There is much to it, but the goal is ambitious and clear.
To one day, call racing a job and be the best, withoiut forgetting to enjoy the path there and love it when I get there.
A special thank you to all supporters, sponsors, my team, mechanic and of course my family! 😊
Best wishes,
Alexander ”Sankka” Dahlström
